Guerrero Wins Spot on World Team

Former Oklahoma State wrestler Eric Guerrero notched a spot on the World Team after defeating Jesus Wilson in a three-match series, this past weekend, at the World Team Trials in St. Paul, Minn.
In the first match, Guerrero fell behind 2-1 after the first period, but came back to win the dual 3-2. Wilson then took the second match 2-1 to tie the series at a match a piece.
In the deciding match, Guerrero scored an early outside single leg to take an early 1-0 lead. Guerrero clung to a 3-2 lead heading into the final period.
He extended his lead to 5-2 after scoring another takedown and receiving a penalty point after Guerrero and Wilson hit heads. Wilson got an escape and a passivity point to cut the lead to 5-4, however, Guerrero secured the victory and a spot on the World Team.
Teague Moore and Jamill Kelly each lost the first two matches of the three-match series to end their run at a spot on the World Team. Moore fell to Stephen Abas, 3-2, 3-1, while Kelly lost to Chris Bono, 3-0, 3-0.
Reggie Wright won his first match, 6-1, over Jesse Jantzen, but fell in the semifinals to Bono, 3-1.
Daniel Cormier upended Franklin Lashley, 9-2, and pinned Dean Morrison in 1:38 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Cormier fell to Chad Lamer, 5-3, ending his run at a spot on the team.
In the pigtails at 211.5 lbs, Mark Mu?oz won by technical fall over Roy Mokosso, 11-0, but fell to Dean Morrison, 4-1, in the first round. In the pigtail consolations, Mu?oz lost to Zach Thompson, 4-0.
