Oklahoma State Rallies Past Arkansas State 10-8

STILLWATER, Okla. - Second baseman Nebasett Brown's RBI single in the seventh inning broke a 5-5 tie and sparked a three-run rally as Oklahoma State defeated Arkansas State, 10-8, in baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Reynolds Stadium.
Shortstop Rob Watson opened the seventh with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch before scoring on Brown's single to right. After first baseman Ali Modami walked, pinch-hitter Toby Rhodes roped a double to left-center that scored Brown. Modami scored on another wild pitch to extend the lead to 8-5.
Leftfielder Jos? Virgil and Brown added to the lead in the eighth with a pair of RBI singles to make the score 10-5.
Arkansas State made a final rally in the ninth, scoring three runs with two outs before reliever Daniel Rew struck out rightfielder Justin Glenn with runners on second and third.
Oklahoma State improved to 21-7 with the win while Arkansas State fell to 9-18 on the year.
Sophomore Joe Weaver pitched two innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win and move to 3-1 on the season.
Mitch Mitchell, Monette and Brown led the Pokes with two hits apiece on the afternoon. ASU second baseman Brock Buckingham led the Indians offensively with a 4-for-4 showing with two RBIs and three runs scored.
The Pokes trailed 5-2 in the sixth when they rallied for three runs with two outs in the inning. Designated hitter Josh Fields walked with the bases loaded to produce the first run and rightfielder Daylon Monette followed with a two-run single to left to tie the game at 5-5.
Arkansas State scored three runs on three hits in the first off of Cowboy starter Jason Kramer to take an early 3-0 lead. The Indians added a run in the second on a RBI single by second baseman Brock Buckingham to make it 4-0.
OSU picked up a run in the third on a RBI single by Daylon Monette to cut the ASU advantage to 4-1. Centerfielder Jeff Salazar added a RBI single of his own in the fourth to make the score 4-2.
The Indians added to their lead in the fifth, scoring a run on a RBI single by shortstop George Sterner.
The Cowboys will be back in Big 12 action this weekend as they travel to Waco, Texas, to take on Baylor. The teams will play Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
