Cowboy Track Fares Well at the Radio Shack Crossroads Invitational

JOPLIN, Mo. - Oklahoma State's men's outdoor track and field team completed a successful track meet this past weekend at the Radio Shack Crossroads Invitational hosted by Missouri Southern.
The meet was run at the Fred G. Hughes Stadium in Joplin, Mo. The meet featured ten regional teams. The Cowboys had four individual champions along with 13 top-five finishes.
Junior Derek Tate won the 1500-meter run by recording a time of 3:59.61. Millwoood product Kinnith Jones placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.19.
The Pokes dominated the 3000-meter run by placing four of the top five finishers. Sophomore Scott Rantall won the event and was followed by sophomore Ben Morales and and junior Jon Cordes. Freshman J.R. Lake crossed the finish line in fifth place.
The Cowboys also ran well in the 5000-meter run. The Pokes placed the top four runners, including the champion junior Ewen North. North was followed by teammates Kevin Connolly, Gregory Rouault and Trey Vernon.
Junior Ben Sigle took home the championship in the 3000-meter steeplechase, while fellow junior Ben Lake place third.
The Pokes will next travel to Austin, Texas, to compete in the Texas Relays on April 4-6.
