Oklahoma State opens a six-game homestand Tuesday, starting with UT-Arlington at 3 p.m. The game is the Cowboys last contest before the beginning of Big 12 play against Texas Tech this weekend.
UT-Arlington
The Mavericks are 7-9 on the season after dropping a 15-5 decision to Texas A&M last Tuesday in College Station. UTA enters Tuesday's contest having lost six of its last seven ballgames. Last season, the team advanced to the NCAA tournament and finished with a 39-25 record out of the Southland Conference. Head coach Jeff Curtis is in his first season as the skipper of the Mavericks, replacing Clay Gould who lost a batle with cancer in 2001.
Junior third baseman Darrell Preston leads the team with a .382 batting average in 16 starts this season. Junior shortstop Ryan Roberts is the only other starter for the Mavericks that is hitting over .300 with a .377 average. As a team, UTA is batting .273 and has been outscored 107-80.
Junior southpaw Pierce Loveless is slated to get the start on the mound for the Mavericks. Loveless is 1-1 on the season with a 4.62 ERA in six appearances. The Arlington product has struck out 21 batters in 25.1 innings while walking just six.

Oklahoma State leads the series 10-3, including a 4-2 win the last time the two teams played on Feb. 19, 1995.
On The Mound
Slated to get the start for OSU Tuesday is junior righty Chris Reilly. He picked up his first win in a Cowboy uniform a week ago in a 10-3 win over Western Illinois. Reilly went five innings and gave up three runs on six hits while striking out nine and walking one. All three runs came via a home run in the first inning.

On Deck
After Tuesday's matchup, Oklahoma State opens up its 2002 conference slate against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders, 17-8 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12, play Sam Houston State Tuesday and Wednesday at home before heading to Stillwater for a three-game set starting on Friday, March 15 at 3 p.m. Game two of the series is slated for Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. with the finale on Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m..
