Oklahoma State's fourth-ranked wrestling team will travel to East Lansing, Mich., to battle Michigan State this Saturday, at noon inside the Fowlerville High School gym.
The Cowboys and Spartans have met 29 times previously, with the Pokes winning 25 of the matches. OSU and Michigan State have already met once this year at the Cliff Keen/NWCA National Duals in the first round. The Cowboys recorded three falls en route to a 36-5 victory.
"Michigan State has some tough individuals," said assistant coach Pat Smith. We've had a good week of practice and are motivated and ready to perform at a high level."
The last time Michigan State defeated OSU was the 1999-00 season as they defeated the Cowboys 21-10 in East Lansing.
Oklahoma State improved its record to 17-3 last weekend, knocking off Big 12 foe No. 4 Iowa State, 25-16, and fourteenth-ranked Northern Iowa, 30-6.
"Those were some big wins for us," said Smith. "Especially to come back and beat a team that already beat us once this year. That shows were trying hard and getting better."
Only one Cowboy will see a familiar face from last years Spartan squad. Fourth-ranked Shane Roller will go head-to-head with No. 6 Gary Maynard. Roller dominated Maynard last year defeating him with a major decision, 11-3. In this year's meeting at the National Duals Roller pinned Maynard in 53 seconds.
