FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Siri Alfheim ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 9:35.22 in the 3,000-meter run at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. on Feb. 2.
Alfheim, a senior from Kopervik, Norway, finished first in the event. It was Alfheim's first race of the season after her cross country season in which she was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
Valentina Medina, a freshmen from Sao Cristobol, Venezuela, finished third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:47.85.
"I am really happy with their performance. We are still in the base phase of our training. This was a checkpoint to see where we are in relation to other competition before the Big 12 Championships," head coach Catrina Acosta.
