MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Oklahoma State's women's soccer team posted a 1-0-2 record this past weekend in Memphis, Tenn., in the team's first action of the spring season.
The Cowgirls, who did not allow a goal in their three contests, opened play with a 1-0 win over Hammer FC. Sophomore Joanne Edwards recorded the game's lone tally on a double assist from freshmen Jolene Schweitzer and Courtney Robb.
OSU battled Alabama to a scoreless tie in the day's second match before closing out play with a 0-0 standstill against Mississippi State.
"We showed a little rust early on, but we got better as the day went on," assistant coach Colin Carmichael said.
Junior Kat Doud went the distance in net for the Cowgirls and was credited with all three shutouts.
The weekend also marked the return of sophomore defender Jeni Jackson to the lineup. The Broken Arrow, Okla., native missed the entire 2001 fall season with a knee injury.
"Kat and the defensive backfield played well. Our entire team was excellent defensively and did not give up many scoring chances," Carmichael said.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Mar. 2 when they travel to Tulsa to take part in the Tulsa seven-a-side tournament.
