Oklahoma State's wrestling team will conclude the regular season on Friday as it travel to Lincoln, Neb., to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
"They have had some hard times as a team," head coach John Smith said. "They have lost there last three duals and when you look at there opponents you understand. I don't want to overlook this team. I think it is a good enough team and we are going up there to wrestle in their arena."
The second-ranked Cowboys (19-3, 4-0) extended their winning streak to six last weekend when they defeated No. 6 OU, 17-8, in Norman. The win marked the second time the Cowboys defeated the Sooners this year. OSU now owns an all-time series mark of 110-24-9 over the Sooners.
No. 24 Nebraska (8-8, 0-3) enters the dual on a three match losing skid. The Huskers are coming off a loss to No. 7 Iowa State, 24-16, in Lincoln, Neb.
"There are a lot of key match-ups not only for a dual victory, but for the seedings at the Big 12 Championships," Smith said. "With that, it becomes a more important dual. If we are going to position ourselves to win the Big 12, then we are going to have to have a good performance.
"We have to follow through with what we did last week," Smith said. "If we have a chance to dominate then we need to dominate."
The Cowboys and Huskers have squared off 45 times previously with OSU winning the last eight duals. NU's last victory came during the 1992-93 season when they beat the Cowboys 39-12 in Stillwater. OSU owns a 42-2-1 all-time record over Nebraska with the only tie coming in 1995 at the National Duals.
The Cowboys will return to action on Mar. 9 when they travel to Norman, Okla., to compete in the Big 12 Championships.
