Oklahoma State's Jerrod Sanders has been named as the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week announced by the Big 12 on Monday.
The 12th-ranked junior improved his overall record to 20-8 last weekend as he upset fourth-ranked Jared Frayer, 4-3, propelling the Cowboys to a 17-8 victory over Bedlam-rival OU. The win marked the second time Sanders has defeated Frayer this year.
The El Reno, Okla., native has won four out of his last five matches, including an upset over Missouri's ninth-ranked Jeremy Spates.
Sanders started the year winning his first six matches before falling to Minnesota's third-ranked Jared Lawrence, 7-6, in Stillwater. Sanders then won seven of his next eight matches, including two wins in the Lone Star Duals.
Sanders and the Cowboys will conclude its regular dual season on Feb. 22 as they travel to Lincoln, Neb., to take on No. 24 Nebraska.
