Oklahoma State's Christmas Day in Houston was eventful with several functions sandwiched around a two-hour workout at the Astrodome.
The Cowboys worked in shorts shoulder pads on the artificial surface of the Astrodome for just under two hours. The Wednesday workout was typical of OSU's normal Thursday practices with time devoted to special teams and fine tuning on both sides of the ball.
For the second time this week, the Cowboys were visited at practice by a former standout. Defensive back Kevin Williams, now with the Houston Texans of the NFL, watched the entire workout Wednesday afternoon.
Prior to the mid-afternoon practice, Head Coach Les Miles and 12 players visited Houston's Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital. "It was a very special experience," Miles said after the visit.
After the practice, Cowboys players and coaches gathered in the team hotel for a traditional Christmas dinner.
Thursday's schedule inludes a kickoff banquet at Houston's J.W. Marriott and a walk through at Reliant Stadium. The Cowboys caught a glimpse at Reliant Stadium Monday but Thursday's workout will be their first time on the stadium's natural surface.
Houston Bowl officials also announced the roof of Reliant Stadium will be open for Friday's game between the Cowboys and Southern Miss. Kickoff for the third annual Houston Bowl is set for noon and an ESPN national broadcast.
