Kyle Eaton added to his impressive list of 2002 academic honors Monday by being named a first team Verizon Academic All-American.
Eaton is one of just two players from Big 12 Conference schools to be named to the first team. Texas Tech's Kliff Kingsbury is the other. It's the second time in his college career Eaton has been named to the elite list.
Already in 2002, Eaton has been named a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete, one of just 13 from Division I-A. He was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 squad for a fourth straight year.
Eaton is an OSU graduate student from Rogers, Texas. He has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout his collegiate career with a major in Management Information Systems.
Eaton is one of just three players on the first team (offense and defense) to have a 4.0 GPA. The teams were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida).
The Academic All-America program was created in 1952. Verizon, in cooperation with CoSida, has been the exclusive sponsor of the Verizon Academic All-America Teams program since 1985.
Eaton has started all season for the Cowboys on the offensive line and has been an integral part of the Cowboys' run to a 7-5 regular season record. OSU ended its regular season last week with a 38-28 win over Oklahoma.
