Seven Wrestlers Advance into Semifinals

Seven wrestlers advanced to the semifinals as Oklahoma State took a commanding lead in the race for the championship.
The Cowboys are in first with 76.5 points, while Boise State and Edinboro are tied for second with 53 points. Clarion and Kent State round out the top five with 50 and 49 points, respectively.
Jerrod Sanders pinned Ron Doppelhever of Edinboro in 2:51, while Chris Pendleton used three takedowns and four three-point nearfalls before recording the technical fall over Clarion's Dave Gardner.
Muhammed Lawal used nine takedowns before recording a major decision over Arizona State's Ryan Bader. With the nine takedowns, Lawal's tournament total is now 24 through three matches.
Skyler Holman, Johnny Thompson, Shane Roller and Jake Rosholt all recorded decisions to advance.
In the third round of the consolations, Cody Stites, Ronnie Delk and Chad Reid all advanced with decisions.
Delk and Willie Gruenwald were the only two wrestlers to advance to the consolation quarterfinals.
