NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team bounced back from a morning-round loss to top-seeded Clemson on Saturday afternoon, posting a 4-1 victory over North Carolina State in the consolation bracket of the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship.
Competing at the Barefoot Resort, the eighth-seeded Cowboys were paced by sophomore Alex Nor?n, who cruised to a 4 and 3 win over the Wolfpack's Fernando Mecherette. OSU also got victories from true freshman Chris Clarke, 2 and 1, sophomore Dayton Rose, 3 and 2, and true freshman Michael Ostrich, 2-up.
Justin Walters posted the lone win for N.C. State, downing OSU redshirt freshman Zack Robinson, 3 and 2.
In Saturday's morning round, the Cowboys' rally came up just short against the Tigers as OSU battled back from an early deficit to halve two matches and gain a 2-up win from Ostrich. However, Clemson picked up wins from Matt Hendrix and Ben Duncan to advance in the winner's bracket with a 3-2 victory.
The Cowboys will battle Big 12 foe and No. 3 seed Texas tomorrow morning in the event's final round.
