Eight Cowgirls Named To Academic All-Big 12 Teams

DALLAS, Texas - Eight members of the Oklahoma State Cowgirl squad have been named to the 2002 Academic All-Big 12 Team, the conference office announced today.
Senior Kat Doud, senior Jennifer Ward, junior Joanne Edwards, junior Kim Graves, sophomore Leah Carr, sophomore Krista Dedmon, and sophomore Courtney Robb were tabbed as first team selections; while sophomore Marcela Nova was named to the second team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade-point average, while the second team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA
Doud, a native of Plano, Texas, snagged first team honors for the third consecutive year after starting 17 games in net for the Cowgirls. She posted five shutouts to up her career total to a school record 15 and recorded a personal-best 1.00 goals-against average.
Senior Jennifer Ward, a native of Edmond, Okla., played in three contests during her final campaign. Ward will graduate in December and begin medical school in August.
Edwards scored three goals this season and played in 18 contests. The Liverpool, England, native also earned first team accolades in 2001.
Kim Graves, also a junior and second year selection, saw action in all 19 games and started 11 times. The Tulsa, Okla., native scored four goals, including three game winners.
Carr, a sophomore from Yukon, Okla., earned the honor for the first time. Carr started 15 games in the backfield and had one game-winning goal on the year.
Sophomore Krista Dedmon is also a first time selection. A native of Chickasha, Okla., Dedmon scored two goals and had six assists.
The final member of the first team, sophomore Courtney Robb, had five assists and two goals on the season, including a game winner.
Nov?, a sophomore from Plzen, Czech Republic was the Cowgirls lone representative on the second team. Nov? was one of four Cowgirls to start all 19 games. In addition to her impressive defensive play, she also had two goals, including one game winner.
