OSU Coach Les Miles
On the game
"A great tribute to the players that started the flow. They keep getting better week after week. The assistant coaches do a good job giving them an environment in which they could learn and become a better football team. In the two years we've been here, the football team gets better and better. At the back end of the season, we are playing our best football. I thought Oklahoma played and came to compete. We knew it was going to get tight, but I also knew that we would persevere."
On Rashaun Woods
"We see a lot of one on one coverage of Rashaun. They do a good job getting him freed up on play action. The coaches did a good job as well. The challenge was met by the offensive staff. We knew that they would be concerned about Rashaun, but we knew we had other options."
"He plays big in big games. I think he looks forward to playing OU at the end of the season."
On end of the game
"We talked about when we get ahead, we're going to continue to push. We were not going to sit back on the score. We understood how dangerous Oklahoma was. We knew that we had to continue to score and the defense had to continue to play well."
On controlling the clock for seven minutes and scoring the first two times
"I am equally proud of both situations. It gave us an opportunity to win. The offense showed character late in the game being able to control the ball, not turn the ball over, and control the clock. The defense played hard too. It was a team victory--coaches and players."
On Oklahoma
"Their vulnerability is based on match ups. We believe we have a wide receiver that we can get the ball to no matter what. We didn't take advantage of OU like A & M did."
On Josh Fields
"He steps up to the plate and plays hard. He knows what is going on. Coach Gundy does a great job coaching him and preparing him to play. The team rallies around Josh. The offensive line played really good football."
On Rivalry Weekend
"We would like to play at Thanksgiving more often. We like to have a traditional rivalry on rivalry weekend. I think this works out and I will try to get this accomplished."
Wide Receiver Rashaun Woods
On reading the defense
"It really started Monday watching film and catching on to the tendencies that the secondary had. If you catch on to those tendencies and take advantage of them you have a chance. Defensive backs are known for sitting on short passes and when they do that they are really set up for the double move."
On the game being an upset
"Other people might say that it is an upset because of the point spread. We had them in our house, and when we are in our house we can beat anybody."
On the offensive line and Josh Fields
"I think that they really gave him (Josh Fields) time to throw the ball. He was never really under any pressure throughout the game. He could just sit back there and pick the team a part, and he really did that."
On the last scoring drive
"That drive was really crucial in helping us seal the victory. We put points on the board in the first half and wanted to come out in the second half and burn the clock because we were up."
Running Back Tatum Bell
On the offensive line
"The linemen have been blocking well all year and with this game being Bedlam there was no question that they were going to bring their A-game. We took what they gave us and made plays."
On the importance of the win
"Last year we were playing for pride, this year we were playing for a better bowl. That was our goal and that is what we came out to do."
On the last scoring drive
"We wanted to score, but they stopped us and we had to kick it. I think that took everything out of them right there and our defense finished them off."
On the big half-time lead
"It didn't surprise me because we knew that our offense could score points. We haven't really been stopped all year and there was no reason for us to shut it down now. "
Safety Chris Massey
On the win
"To come out here against a team like OU who is hoping for a national championship and spoil their dreams is a dream come true. It's amazing to me to come out here and dominate a game two years in a row like we did. We came out fired up and ready to play. The seniors were ready to play and the young guys stepped up and followed."
On Rashaun Woods
"He's an All-American type. He is the real deal and is so special to this university."
Quarterback Josh Fields
On the win
"It's kind of unexplainable, I am really excited and overwhelmed that we came out and performed like we did. We knew that we could do it and came out and did it today."
On the high scoring
"I knew that we could do that with our game plan. I never really thought that we would, but once it started happening our confidence built up a little bit. We thought that we could score on every possession. We had a lot of fun out there today."
On the win being an upset
"As far as next year I don't think that this should be considered an upset, but this year maybe. Next year I think that they will start looking at us as their rivals. Hopefully we have gotten into that category."
On Rashaun Woods
"It's awesome. You just throw it up and he'll make plays. You just basically put it were the defense can't catch it and where he can and he will go up and make plays. He's an awesome route runner. He just drove their defense into the ground. He goes out there and does it every game."
Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops
On the outcome
"It is a difficult loss to take, for many reasons, but my complements first to Oklahoma State. They just flat out beat us in many ways, both coaching and playing. We give them (OSU) credit, they did an excellent job today, performed well and just beat us.
On the loss
"I told the players leaving the lockeroom that a year's work for us doesn't go out the window in one game. We put ourselves in position to compete for a Big 12 championship next week by winning the South. We will take our lumps from this, shake it off, and get ourselves in position to win a championship against a very good football team with Colorado. I believe we have the character to do that and we will go to work on that starting tomorrow, that is the only plus side coming out of tonight. Outside of that we just flat got beat and Oklahoma State should be credited with that."
On Rashaun Woods
"Rashaun Woods is an excellent player that makes big plays. I have seen him do it in every game; he has against us and he did again today. He is a tremendous football player."
On OSU stopping the run and defending the pass
"They did it better than we did. We did end up scoring some points and I would have like to of seen us be better earlier. Both sides of the ball, offense and defense, they just executed it better than we did."
On Quentin Griffin's performance
"He had some runs in there that he was solid. In the second half we ended up throwing a little more than we usually do and were not able to give Quentin the number of touches."
On OSU's last scoring drive
"That just typified the day, how their offense just took it to us on defense. It is just plain and simple and in the end was just typical of the day."
On Josh Fields' perfomance
"He did a good job last year and particularly this year. I though he was excellent and I don't think he threw a bad ball all day. He did very good at executing their plan and throwing the football."
Opposing Players
Defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson
On the defensive play as a whole:
"We didn't put enough pressure on Fields, we got outplayed basically the whole game, and we give OSU a lot of credit."
On the defensive game plan:
"We try to make every team one dimensional. They did an excellent job of running the ball against us and also passing the ball. They did an excellent job and we have to give credit to them because they outplayed us at every position."
On the emotion of the game:
"I think OSU picked the intensity up from the beginning and they had the momentum going the whole game."
On OSU's offense:
"We got outplayed just about every play. They did an excellent job of reading our defense and running the plays that they had for us."
Linebacker Lance Mitchell
On losing to OSU in consecutive years:
"I don't know what it is, I guess they just wanted it more, if you want to call it that. I can't explain for last year because I didn't play, but this year, we just lost."
On the defense's play:
"It seemed like the Texas A&M game, nothing was going our way. We couldn't adjust to anything they were doing. In the second half we came out and did all right, I guess. Other than that we still lost, nothing was all right."
