OSU Coach Les Miles
On playing against Kansas
"It was an enjoyable afternoon with the offense coming out and playing like they did and the defense in the second half stepping up, and special teams pitching in with a blocked punt for a touchdown. That kind of puts it out of reach for the opponent and makes for a sloppy game."
On the importance of a win
"That game had more importance because of the game in Lubbock. We had to hit five and we had to win on the road. Those were two goals that the players set for themselves during the week. Hitting five was important. The games that you win are important and that was one of them."
On the importance of winning against Baylor
"It is a very important game. When you count six it qualifies you for a bowl. I hope that the stands will be full, that there is orange from side to side, and that we come out as if this is a very important game. For us it is, and I hope we play it that way."
On Baylor
"They had 380 yards against a very stout (Oklahoma) defense. The thing that has happened to them is that they have shot themselves in the foot. On offense they turn the ball over and make mistakes. Defensively they have guys up front who are strong and good defenders. They can stick you sometimes and are guys that you need to have respect for. On offense they move the football. They are a better football team than the one we just played."
On the play of Josh Fields
"He threw for over three hundred and fifty yards and six touchdowns in the best passing day of an Oklahoma State quarterback and the best of his career. He had a great day. He plays so comfortably within the scheme of the offense. He is an unassuming personality on the team. He wants the team to do well. He is not after personal accolades, goals, or records. He just wants to know how we can beat our opponent and how he can help us."
Nose Tackle LaWaylon Brown
On the Kansas game
"Our offense scored quick and the defense had to be out there a lot, but we didn't mind because the offense was scoring and it was a pretty fun game for everyone."
"In the second half they (coaches) spread us out a little bit because a lot of guys were out of position and a lot of guys didn't get off blocks and make plays. We had to come out in the second half and settle ourselves down and get the job done."
"We (the defense) were up cheering when we saw the offense doing what they were supposed to be doing by going up and down the field. It was just awesome seeing Rashaun making plays and having his way. We (the defense) were not really that tired at all."
On playing Baylor this Saturday
"We definitely want to erase the first half from the Kansas game and play Baylor the whole game like we played Kansas in the second half."
"Baylor has a pretty good offensive line with big physical guys up front and they run a similar kind of offense that Kansas did. We got into a little trouble early with Kansas and we are going to have start out fast against Baylor."
"I believe that the Big 12 is a tough conference and I wouldn't call any team in the Big 12 lousy because a lot of the teams in the Big 12 have shown that anybody can get beat on any Saturday. We are not going to take this team lightly."
On a possible bowl game
"We are just trying to count six right now. I've never been to a bowl. I've been here five years and it would be nice to go to one. It's nice to have something to play for come November and it's definitely one of our goals. If we do what we are supposed to then we'll be all right."
