Soccer Shuts Out East Central, 6-0

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's soccer squad got back on the winning track on Monday, picking up its seventh shutout of the season and scoring a season-high six goals against East Central.
After losing its first game of the season last Friday, Oklahoma State came out with a vengeance and Kim Graves netted her fourth goal of the season on a feed from Courtney Robb just over one minute into the game.
The Cowgirl offense maintained control of the ball and ten minutes later Nikki Wojtowicz scored her first goal of the season on a double assist from Robb and Krista Dedmon.
After an 18 minute dry spell, Joanne Edwards took an assist from Jere Boykin to extend the lead to 3-0 at half and give the Cowgirls their largest margin this season after one period.
The onslaught continued in the second stanza, as OSU found the back of the net 16 seconds into the stanza and doubled its half time lead in the first 20 minutes.
The formidable duo of Boykin and Wojtowicz, team goal and assist leaders, teamed up for the score at the 45:16 mark. Boykin upped her goal total to seven on the play and Wojtowicz recorded her 11th assist.
Edwards tripled her season goal total nine minutes later on an assist from Dedmon. The junior had just one goal entering the game with the Lady Tigers, but finished the game with three.
Cowgirl defenders Marcela Nov? and Jeni Jackson teamed up for the final goal of the night in the 73rd minute. Nov? scored her second goal of the season on Jackson's second assist of the year.
Freshman Jackie Hinton earned her first start in goal, playing the first 56 minutes and recording one save.
Oklahoma State outshot East Central 38-3, its largest margin this season. The Cowgirls also set a program best with the 38 shots, the previous high was 37 against Oklahoma Christian in 1996.
Oklahoma State (11-1, 2-1) will jump back into Big 12 play this weekend with its second consecutive conference road trip. The Cowgirls will square off against Kansas on Friday at 4 p.m. and wrap up with Missouri at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
