Second-ranked Oklahoma State wrestlers (8-1 overall, 1-0 Big Xll) prepare to travel to Iowa to take on the No. 5 Hawkeyes (5-0 overall, 0-0 Big Ten) on Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
Oklahoma State leads the series with Iowa, 17-16-1. The Cowboys defeated the Hawkeyes last year in Oklahoma City, Okla., with a 21-14 victory. Iowa holds a 9-5 series lead in Iowa when competing inside the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Leading the way for the Hawkeyes will be top-ranked Senior Mike Zadick (149) who will be competing against tenth-ranked Jerrod Sanders, and Fr. Steve Mocco (Hwt.) will be going head-to-head with No. 11 James Huml.
Iowa is coming off a victory at the 34th annual Midlands Championship that was held on Dec. 29-30 in Evanston, Il. The Hawkeyes scored 151 points and crowned three champions, defeating runner-up Iowa State by 24.5 points.
The Cowboys have three up and coming matches within three days this weekend, which should be nothing for OSU considering they tallied three victories last Sat., defeating Wisconsin 38-3, Harvard 28-9 and Wyoming 41-0 at the Lone Star Duals in Grand Prairie, Texas.
The Cowboys will resume action on Sunday, Jan. 13th inside Gallagher-Iba Arena when they host Cal Poly at 1:30 p.m. and Fresno State at 7 p.m.
