Cowboy Wrestlers Earn Hat Trick at Lone Star Duals

Oklahoma State swept Wisconsin, Harvard and Wyoming on Saturday at the Lone Star Duals in Grand Prairie, Texas, to improve to 8-1 on the season.
All-Americans Johnny Thompson and Shane Roller and Senior James Huml got the ball rolling early for the Cowboys. All three wrestlers recorded third-period pins, propelling OSU to a 38-3 victory over the Badgers of Wisconsin.
Thompson pinned Kevin Black at the 6:11 mark, while Roller took down Chad Steldt at 6:29 and Huml finished off Dave Neumyer with only seconds remaining in his match.
Roller notched the Cowboys' lone fall against Harvard, pinning Robert Griffin at the 2:23 mark to help OSU to a 28-9 victory over the Crimson.
All-American's Matt Brown, Thompson and Tyrone Lewis as well as Senior Ty Wilcox added bonus points with major decisions in their respective weight classes.
Brown defeated David Germakin 18-8 in the 125-pound weight class, while Thompson controlled Kevin El-Hayek 10-2 at the 133 spot. After missing the Reno Tournament with a knee injury, Lewis returned to the lineup and defeated Patrick O'Donnell 14-2, while Wilcox shut out P.J. Jones 8-0.
OSU closed out the event with a 41-0 shutout against Wyoming, utilizing three major decisions, a tech fall and a pair of forfeits.
The Cowboys will continue their road trip when they travel to Iowa City, Iowa to face the fifth-ranked Hawkeyes on Jan. 11th at 7p.m.
