Cowboy Wrestlers Notch Seventh Place at National Duals

Oklahoma State's second-ranked wrestling team finished the 2002 Cliff Keen/NWCA National Duals today with a 23-15 win over Pennsylvania to finish in seventh place.
The Cowboys (14-3 overall) rode major decisions by All-American sophomore Johnny Thompson and senior Pat Popolizio.
Thompson knocked off Jeff Eveleth 18-4 at 133 pounds, while Popolizio blanked Paul Veleki 12-0 in the 184-pound match.
Freshman Ronnie Delk recorded his first victory of the tournament by defeating Brett Vanderveer 5-3 at 141 pounds, while All-American Shane Roller defeated Yoshi Nakamura 2-1 at 157 pounds.
All-American Tyrone Lewis bounced back from his first loss of the season by defeating Josh Henson 8-4 at 165 pounds to improve to 18-1 on the season.
The Cowboys will return to conference action on Jan. 25 when they travel to Columbia, Mo., to grapple against the Missouri Tigers. The dual is slated to start at 7 p.m.
