Cowboy Wrestlers Place Seven at Roger Denker Open

Oklahoma State placed seven wrestlers in their respective weight classes last friday in the Roger Denker Open that was held at Central Missouri State.
Chris Pendelton, Jake Rosholt and Rusty Blackmon took charge in the tournament by receiving first-place finishes in their respective weight classes.
Pendelton grabbed two falls and two decisions on his way to the title in the 174-pound weight class, while Rosholt snagged three falls, the quickest coming against Danny Sanders of Neosho Comunity College at the 2:24 mark.
Blackmon came through in the 197-pound spot tallying a fall, a major decision and a 9-5 decision against Lindenwood's Wayne James in the finals.
Freshman Steven Esparza fell to Matt Murray of Colby Community College in the finals to give him a second place finish. Clark Shouse finished behind Esparza taking home third after losing to Murray in the semi-finals.
Freshmen Derek Stevens and Kevin Ward, both finished third at the 125 and 149-pound weight classes, respectively. Ward defeated teammate Brett Munson in conselation 4-1, on his way to the third-place spot.
The Cowboys will travel to Columbus, Ohio to participate in the National Duals that will take place on Jan. 19-20, at Ohio State University.
