STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State midfielder Krista Dedmon was named the Big 12's Soccer Newcomer of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday.
The Chickasha, Okla., native received the honor after scoring four points on a pair of goals in OSU's two wins over the weekend. The freshman, whose 71 goals last season and 193 career goals are state prep records, came off the bench in both contests and totaled seven shots in her first collegiate appearances.
In Friday's 3-1 win over East Central, Dedmon recorded a pair of shots before her breakthrough performance in Sunday's 4-0 win over Drury. Against the Panthers, she scored her first career goal with 33 seconds remaining in the first half before adding her second tally in the game's 88th minute.
The Cowgirls (2-0) will be back in action this Friday when they travel to Omaha, Neb., to take on Northern Iowa on Friday and Creighton on Sunday.
