Women's Soccer Takes On Two In-State Rivals

Oklahoma State's women's soccer team heads south this weekend to Edmond, Okla. for a pair of games against in-state rivals. On Friday, the Cowgirls will square off with Tulsa at 8 p.m. OSU will close out the weekend with a 3 p.m. kick off on Sunday against Oral Roberts.
Tulsa enters the weekend at 2-2-1 and is coming off a 1-0 win over Arkansas on Tuesday. The win broke a two-game losing skid for the Golden Hurricane, who suffered setbacks to Southwest Missouri State and Drury.
TU tied New Hampshire in the season opener and also picked up a win over Vermont.
Offensively, the Golden Hurricane is led by forward Melissa McCormick. The senior has totaled five points on the season, scoring two goals to go along with an assist.
In goal, freshman Abby Fahrig has seen the majority of playing time, logging five starts and 455 minutes in net. The St. Charles, Mo., native has given up seven goals on the season.
Tulsa won the only previous meeting between the two schools last year, coming away with a 5-0 victory.
The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, who are currently 1-3-0, broke a three-game losing streak in their last outing. ORU downed Western Kentucky by a 2-0 count on Sept. 13.
The Golden Eagles opened the season with a double overtime loss to Drury before losing to Oklahoma and Southwest Missouri State.
Junior Megan Utz leads the squad offensively, scoring a pair of goals on the year. Sophomore Christy Chapman has gone the distance in goal for the the Golden Eagles, amassing 386 minutes while surrendering 11 goals.
Week in Review
OSU is fresh off a 4-0 triumph over Southwest Missouri State. With the
win, the Cowgirls improved to
4-1-0, matching their win total from a year ago.
Senior defender Myszka Paprocki broke the stalemate with her first career goal after heading in a corner kick from freshman Nikki Wojtowicz.
Carla Dolomont was the second Cowgirl to strike on the evening. The freshman lofted a 25-yard shot over SMS goalkeeper Alexis Stormo in the games 37th minute for her second goal of the year and pushed the OSU lead to 2-0.
Sophomore Joanne Edwards notched her first goal of the season off of freshman Courtney Robb?s second assist of the game, giving the Cowgirls a three-goal advantage at the intermission.
OSU struck early in the second half as freshman Jolene Schweitzer buried her third goal of the season in the contest?s 48th minute to put the game out of reach and provide the final margin.
Goalkeeper Kat Doud recorded her third shutout of the season, playing the full 90 minutes in net and stopping seven shots.
