TULSA, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's cross country team opened their season with a win on Friday evening.
The Cowgirls edged the University of Tulsa with twenty-five points to Tulsa's thirty-two.
The Cowgirls strategically ran the race and had eight girls come across in the top fifteen.
Siri Alfheim finished second on the two-mile course with a time of 11:31. Charlotte Sanderson of the University of Tulsa who had a time of 11:18 finished first.
"It was good team tactical running." Said Coach Catrina Acosta, "It gave me some important information. Practice is one thing, but a game situation is a completely different thing."
This tactic had Cowgirls bunched throughout the top ten. Janine Brown and Marie Nilsson followed Alfheim with times of 11:34 and 11:36 respectively.
"It was a good day for the first meet. It was a good way to start the season like this," Nilsson said.
