STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State pitching coach John Farrell was named Director of Player Development for the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday as part of the team's reorganization within the Baseball Operations Department.
The search for Farrell's replacement at Oklahoma State will begin immediately with the position to be open for 30 days in compliance with state policy.
"I am looking to restructure my staff with current assistant coach Robbie Wine moving into the lead assistant's spot," said Oklahoma State head coach Tom Holliday. "I will take over the primary responsibilities of coaching the pitching staff while searching for a young, energetic personality that knows the in's and out's of college baseball to round out the coaching staff."
"The coaching candidate should be able to recruit effectively with the ability to relate to today's student-athlete on the field and particularly in the classroom. Previous playing and coaching ability will have a strong bearing on who will fill the position," stated Holliday.
Farrell's official last day at Oklahoma State is August 31. He was the Cowboy pitching coach from 1997-2001 and also played at OSU from 1981-84.
