Cowgirl Soccer Drops East Central in Season Opener

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's soccer team won its season opener on Friday night, defeating East Central 3-1 before 859 fans at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
In the game's 14th minute, Cowgirl sophomore Kim Graves tallied the game's first goal on an assist from freshman Nikki Wojtowicz.
The Tigers equalized at the 34:02 mark when Jessica Nimmo lofted a shot just out of reach of OSU goalkeeper Kat Doud to knot the score at 1-1.
Cowgirl freshman Jolene Schweitzer blasted a free kick through the ECU defense nearly 13 minutes into the second half to give OSU the lead for good.
Freshman Leah Carr notched the game's final goal four minutes later for the Cowgirls, converting a Wojtowicz feed on a corner kick to provide the final margin. The assist was the third of the night for Wojtowicz, a freshman from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
OSU (1-0) outshot the Tigers (2-1) on the night by a 29-5 margin and registered 17 corners while holding ECU to none.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Sunday when they host Drury at 1 p.m. at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
