STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State women's soccer team's recruiting class for the 2001 season was ranked 20th in the nation and fifth in the Central Region by Soccer Buzz Magazine it was announced last Thursday.
"We are excited about the class we are bringing into Oklahoma State. We think we have recruited players with the talent and attitude to come in and make an immediate impact," Cowgirl head coach Karen Hancock said.
OSU's talent crop totals 10 players and is highlighted by five players who have competed at various levels nationally. Among the group is defender Marcela Nova, a member of the full Czech Republic National Team.
Krista Dedmon, one of four Oklahomans in this year's class, joins the Cowgirls after setting state records for goals in a game (8), season (71) and career (193) while competing at Chickasha High School.
Hancock's squad will start the 2001 season on Aug. 26 with an exhibition match against TCU before opening the regular season at home against East Central on Aug. 31.
