STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's soccer team has added two players, Carla Dolomont and Marcela Nova, to its recruiting class for the 2001 season. With the additions, the Cowgirls' incoming class now totals 10 players.
A native of Calgary, Alberta Canada, Dolomont joins the Cowgirls after spending the past two seasons as a member of the Canadian Under-19 National Team. The midfielder competed with fellow OSU signee Nikki Wojtowicz on the U-19 squad.
Dolomont has played for the Alberta Provincial Team since 1995, competing alongside three members of this year's recruiting class, Jolene Schweitzer, Bonnie Thompson and Wojtowicz.
"Carla is very quick and aggressive defensively. We want to utilize her speed on the flank and we expect her to make an immediate impact in the midfield," assistant coach Colin Carmichael said.
A graduate of Bishop Grandin High School, Dolomont was named her school's Athlete of the Year five consecutive years. She was also a standout in track as well, competing nationally in three events and finishing first in the Province in the 400-meter hurdles.
Nova comes to the OSU program after competing as a member of the full Czech Republic National Team. The defender made her debut in a 5-0 win over Greece in May.
For the past four years, Nova was a member of the Czech U-19 National Team as well, earning more than 20 caps.
At the club level, Nova competed for SKP Rapid Plzen, where she served as team captain for three years.
"Marcela is the most experienced player we have ever had at OSU. She has played at a very high level and that experience will be very valuable," noted Carmichael.
The Cowgirls will begin the season on August 26 when they take on TCU in Ft. Worth, Texas.
