Baker, Weaver Receive All-America Honors

STILLWATER, Okla. - Collegiate Baseball has named two Oklahoma State pitchers to the 2001 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team.
Scott Baker, a Shreveport, La. native, posted a 6-2 record with a 4.05 ERA. He struck out 40 batters and walked 20 before sitting out the final six weeks of the season with an injury.
Joe Weaver, a Big 12 Freshman Co-Pitcher of the Year and a first-team All-Big 12 selection, was honored as a relief pitcher. He ended the season with a 8-0 record, one save and a 3.23 ERA. He struck out 35 batters while walking only 10 and was second on the team in appearances with 25.
Baker and Weaver join a roster of 48 Cowboys that have earned All-America status, beginning with Joe Buck in 1951. The list also includes Carl?s Gautreaux, who was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association second team in 2000. Catcher Ryan Budde was the last Cowboy to earn freshman All-America honors as he received honorable mention by Collegiate Baseball in 1999.
