Cowboy Golf Finishes Tied for 24th at NCAA Championship

DURHAM, N.C. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team shot a six-over-par team score of 294 on Thursday during the second round of the NCAA Championship being held at the Duke University Golf Club.
The Cowboys, who failed to make the cut at the tournament for the first time in school history, finished in a tie for 24th place with Georgia Southern with an 18-over-par total of 594.
Freshman P?r Nilsson came in as the Cowboys' top individual after posting an even-par 72 on Thursday to finish tied for 37th place. He played his 36 holes in two-over par after carding a 74 on Wednesday. During his second round, the Ljungsbro, Sweden native battled back after standing two-over through his first nine holes. Nilsson went on to card three birdies, including a pair over his last three holes, to get back to even on the day.
Anders Hultman, the 2001 Big 12 Player of the Year, improved on yesterday's 76 with an even-par round of his own. The junior finished each nine in 36 strokes to record a 72 and end the round tied for 53rd at four-over-par.
Freshman Matt McQuillan started with a double bogey on his first hole and eventually rose to four-over-par before tallying birdies on his last two holes to finish with a 74. The Kingston, Ontario native finished the tournament with a two-day total of 149.
J.C. DeLeon fired his second consecutive 76 to end play in a pack of players that included teammate Boyd Summerhays at eight-over-par. DeLeon and Summerhays, both sophomores, each finished with 36-hole scores of 152.
