STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State's women's soccer team has announced the signing of Bonnie Thompson, a native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, to a National Letter of Intent. Thompson is the third Canadian and eighth player overall to cast their lot with the Cowgirls this season.
Thompson, a 5-4 defender, is currently a member of the Under-19 Canadian National Pool and competed previously on the Under-17 Canadian National Team.
"Bonnie is a very aggressive defender who plays with a lot of tenacity," assistant coach Colin Carmichael commented. "Playing in the national program is always a positive and she has played at a high level for a long time."
Since 1998, Thompson has competed with fellow OSU signees Jolene Schweitzer and Nikki Wojtowicz on the Alberta Provincial squad and her club team, the Edmonton Angels, captured the national championship in 2000.
In addition to soccer, Thompson excelled as a member of Salisbury Composite High School's track and ice hockey squads.
