Cowboy Golf Advances to NCAA Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team qualified for the NCAA Championships after finishing sixth on Saturday at the Central Regional being held at Karsten Creek in Stillwater.
The Cowboys wrapped up the three-day event with a 294, six-over-par, team score during the final round to complete play with a 54-hole total of 887. OSU finished two strokes behind Minnesota and the College of Charleston for fourth place and four shots behind the tournament's tri-champions, Kent State, Oklahoma and Purdue.
Texas' John Klauk won individual medalist honors with a four-under total of 212.
Freshman P?r Nilsson paced the Cowboys with his second 73 of the tournament. The Ljungsbro, Sweden native concluded play in a three-way tie for 12th place with a score of 218, two-over-par, finishing as OSU's top player for the third time this season.
Matt McQuillan fired his second sub-par round of the tournament, a one-under score of 70, to finish in a tie for 15th place at 219. The freshman from Kingston, Ontario rebounded from a 78 during Friday's round to come in at three-over for the tournament.
Junior Anders Hultman turned in his best round of the tournament with a 72 to tie for 40th place at seven-over-par.
Boyd Summerhays' total of 227 for the event was good for a six-way tie for the 65th spot, while J.C. DeLeon carded his second consecutive round of 78 to finish at 236, 20-over-par.
The Cowboys will return to action on May 30 when they travel to Durham, North Carolina to play at the NCAA Championships at the Duke University Golf Club.
