OSU Golf In Fourth Place at NCAA Regional

STILLWATER, Okla - Oklahoma State's men's golf team fired a four-over-par team score of 292 to stand in a four-way tie for fourth place after the first round of play at the NCAA Men's Golf Central Regional at Karsten Creek Golf Club on Thursday.
The Cowboys will enter tomorrow's second round tied with Minnesota, Ohio State and Baylor and three strokes behind first-round leader Kent State.
Individually, OSU freshman Matt McQuillan fired a two-under 70 to finish in a tie for seventh place after day one. The Kingston, Ontario native was one of 14 players to better par on the day, including Kansas' Andy Stewart who grabbed the lead after 18 holes with a course record 66.
Fellow freshman P?r Nilsson carded a one-over 73 to finish tied for 25th place with 11 other players.
Junior All-American Anders Hultman came in at two-over-par with a 74 for OSU. The Big 12 Player of the Year rebounded from a 39 on the front nine to post a 35 over his final nine holes and finish play in a tie for 37th.
Sophomore Boyd Summerhays shaved five strokes off of his front-nine score of 40 to post a 75 on the day and finish in a tie for 62nd at three-over-par.
Sophomore J.C. DeLeon rounded out the Cowboy lineup with a first-round 80.
The Cowboys will tee off on hole No. 10 at their home course at 7:12 tomorrow morning.
