Cowgirls Are Ready For the Big 12

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Oklahoma State's women's track and field team sent three members of its squad to compete in the Cardinal Qualifier in their final meet before the Big 12 Track and Field Championships May 17-20.
The Cardinal Qualifier gives athletes one last chance to qualify for the national meet and was represented by many of the top collegian athletes in the country.
The Cowgirls did not back down, Siri Alfheim and Sara Wells finished third and fourth in the 5,000-meter while Araceli Davila crossed the line in thirteenth place.
Alfheim bettered the time she ran at the Penn Relays with a time of 16:14.69, one second off of an automatic qualifying time, but over half a minute behind Kara Grgas-Wheeler of Colorado who ran a time of 15:41.78.
Wells took fourth with a time of 16:25.05. She beat the time she set at the Penn Relays by five seconds.
Davila ran a personal best time of 17:10.21 beating her previous best of 17:12 which she set at the Stanford Invitational.
The Cowgirls will next compete in the Big 12 meet from Thursday to Sunday in College Station, Texas.
