Cowboys Run Rule Sooners 11-1

TULSA, Okla. - Oklahoma State pounded out 15 hits and scored 11 runs off five Oklahoma pitchers as the Cowboys run ruled the Sooners tonight at Drillers Stadium in Tulsa, Okla.
With the win, the Cowboys move to 36-18 on the season and 14-14 in Big 12 conference action. Oklahoma falls to 23-29 overall and 13-14-1 in Big 12 conference play.
Starter Josh Merrigan picked up the win for Oklahoma State, allowing only three hits and a lone run in 6.1 innings. Shane Hawk closed out the game with 1.2 hitless innings.
Oklahoma got on the scoreboard first as leadoff hitter Jerome Godsey was hit by a pitch and scored the Sooner's only run on Greg Dobbs' RBI single.
Oklahoma State took the lead with two runs in the second inning as Zach Cates led off with a single and Ali Modami got on base with a walk. Jimbo McAuliff's single to left plated Cates, and Modami scored on Jose Virgil's fielder's choice.
Shortstop Paul Powell led off the third inning with a home run over the left field wall, extending the Cowboy lead to 3-1.
The Cowboys picked up another run in the fourth inning as Virgil led off with a walk and came home on a Jake Bollig single to center field.
Pinch hitter Roy York singled to lead off the sixth inning and advanced to second on a passed ball, and scored on Jake Bollig's sacrifice fly.
The Cowboys added five runs in the seventh inning off of three singles and a base-clearing double by Bollig. Nebasett Brown's walk-off double scored Rob Watson and ended the game in the eighth inning.
The Cowboys and the Sooners will face off tomorrow in the second game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, Okla.
