PUERTO VALLARTA, Mex. - Oklahoma State's golf team shot an eight-over-par 296 on Friday to finish the first round at the U.S. Collegiate Golf Championship in eighth place.
The Cowboys got a three-under-par 69 from Anders Hultman, who finished the day in a three-way tie for third place. Freshman P?r Nilsson carded the squad's second-lowest round, a two-over 74, to finish in a tie for 27th place.
Fellow freshman Matt McQuillan will enter play on Saturday in a tie for 36th after posting a 76 while sophomore Boyd Summerhays came in a stroke behind with a 77.
Sophomore J.C. DeLeon rounded out the Cowboy lineup with a first-round 79.
The Cowboys will resume play tomorrow 12 strokes behind Georgia, who raced out in front with a team score of 284.
