Cowboys Host BYU In Final Home Baseball Game

THIS WEEK
Oklahoma State will host Brigham Young in its final home game of the
season Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The second game of
the series, originally scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. has been cancelled
to comply with the NCAA limit of 56 regular-season games. BYU will travel
to Tulsa, Okla. on Wednesday to play Oral Roberts.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Brigham Young brings a 29-17 record and a three-game winning streak into
Stillwater, following a sweep of San Diego State this weekend. By winning
the three-game set, the Cougars took the lead in the Mountain West
Conference standings.
BYU is led offensively by Doug Jackson who owns a .399 batting average and 26 RBIs. Matt Carson leads the Cougars in home runs with 16. The Yucaipa, Calif. native also leads the club with 60 RBIs.
Senior Nate Fernley will get the starting nod in Tuesday?s game. His 12-2 record is tops in the NCAA and he owns a 3.14 ERA on the season.
Oklahoma State leads the overall series with BYU 5-3. In their last meeting, OSU swept the Cougars in a two-game series, winning the first game 20-15 before defeating BYU 6-4 in the final game.
PROBABLES ON THE MOUND
Oklahoma State will send Shane Hawk to the mound against BYU. Hawk, a
freshman from Midwest City, Okla. is 2-2 with a 3.82 ERA this season. He
has struck out 27 in 33.0 innings pitched and walked only ten batters in.
His 19 appearances are a team high.
