Cowboy Baseball Falls to Gonzaga, 10-5

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's baseball team stranded 12 runners en route to suffering a 10-5 setback to Gonzaga in the first game of the Farm Bureau Insurance Baseball Bash at the Bricktown Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.
The Cowboys (30-12) took the lead in the bottom of the second inning on Luke Scott's team-best 13th home run of the season. The solo shot gave OSU its only run of the game.
In the third inning, Gonzaga (18-18) took the lead with a six runs on six hits. In the frame, the Bulldogs tallied five of their seven doubles on the day and took advantage of a Cowboy fielding error to build their lead.
Rob Watson provided the Cowboy offense in the bottom of the frame with a towering two-run homer to left field. The blast cut the Bulldog lead to 6-3.
OSU drew within two runs in the fourth inning with its third dinger of the game. Matt Oakes lined a 1-2 offering from Bulldog starter Scott Stencil over the left field wall for his first home run of the season.
The Bulldogs built the lead back to five runs in the fifth inning with three runs. Kevin Richardson homered on the first pitch of the inning while Danny Evans and Eric Rodland registered RBI base hits.
Nebasett Brown drove home the Cowboys' final run with one of his three hits of the afternoon, a single in the sixth inning to drive home Jimbo McAuliff.
Sean Ingalls tossed 2.2 innings to pick up his first win of the season to move to 1-1 on the season. Freshman Jimmy Rhodes suffered his first loss of the season and dropped to 3-1.
The Cowboys will resume conference play on Friday night in College Station, Texas against the Texas A&M Aggies.
