STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's baseball team opened a three-game series against Princeton on Friday, winning 8-2 before 1,368 fans at Reynolds Stadium.
The Tigers (1-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Casey Hildreth drew a bases-loaded walk from Cowboy starter Nick McCurdy to chase home Jon Watterson.
The Cowboys (14-3) answered in the bottom of the third when designated hitter Jos? Virgil drove home second baseman Nebasett Brown with a single through the right side of the infield.
In the fourth, OSU took the lead when Toby Rhodes scored on a bloop single by Brown. Shortstop Paul Powell followed with a walk before rightfielder Luke Scott delivered the game's biggest blow, a three-run homer, to put the Cowboys out in front 5-1.
The home run was Scott's team-leading sixth of the season.
Virgil added a three-run shot of his own in the fifth inning to extend the margin to seven runs.
McCurdy worked six innings for the Cowboys, while giving up only one run en route to picking up his fourth win of the season. Sophomore Mike Miller pitched three innings in relief to earn his third save.
