Junior Vasquez Finishes Eighth at Nationals

Oklahoma State's Junior Vasquez placed eighth at the 2001 NCAA Indoor Track Championships this weekend.

Vasquez, a senior on the squad, competed in the 3,000-meter run on Saturday night at the Randal Tyson Track in Fayetteville, Ark. Vasquez's eighth-place finish came with a time of 8:12.07.

"I think Junior has a really good chance," said Coach Weis about the meet. "He has performed good all year."

Junior Vasquez was the only member of the Cowboy squad to qualify. Vasquez qualified for the meet at the Razorback Invitational on Jan. 27 with a time of 8:01.94.

Vasquez and the rest of the OSU team prepare to start the outdoor track season on Mar. 24 at the Cowboy Duals in Stillwater.
