STILLWATER, Okla - Oklahoma State's baseball team completed a three-game sweep of the Princeton Tigers on Sunday afternoon with a 10-1 win in a rain-shortened contest at Reynolds Stadium.
With the win, OSU improved to 16-3, while the Tigers fell to 1-3 on the season.
Senior outfielder Roy York tied a school single-game record, hitting three home runs in the game. The record is held by three other players, the most recent being Sean Hugo, who accomplished the feat against Missouri in 1994.
The Cowboys jumped out in front 1-0 in the first inning on Nebasett Brown's RBI double. Brown later scored on a ground out by Jos? Virgil to give OSU a two-run lead.
OSU added a pair of runs in the second inning before putting up a four-spot in the third frame. In the third, York hit the first of his three homers, a two-run shot.
York struck again in the fifth inning, belting a solo homer to give the Cowboys a 9-1 lead. The Stroud, Oklahoma native led off the seventh and final inning with his record-tying blast over the leftfield wall to push the OSU lead to nine runs.
Cowboy freshman Jimmy Rhodes picked up the win in his first career start. The Sheperdstown, West Virginia native worked five innings, striking out five and allowing one unearned run in his debut.
Princeton starter Chris Higgins fell to 0-1 after giving up nine runs on eight hits.
The Cowboys will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Western Illinois at 3 p.m.
