STILLWATER, Okla. - Fredrik Jonzen hit a jump shot and two free throws in the final 36 seconds Saturday and Oklahoma State survived a season-worst 32 percent shooting to beat Kansas State 52-47.
The Cowboys (17-7, 8-5 Big 12) made just six field goals in the second half and finished 16-of-50 from the field, but hung on to keep their NCAA tournament chances alive.
Kansas State (9-16, 3-11) lost for the ninth time in 10 games.
Jonzen had 17 points and eight rebounds. His biggest rebound came with 12.1 seconds remaining, when he grabbed the ball after Phineas Atchison missed a leaner in the lane.
Jonzen was fouled and made both free throws for a 50-47 lead. He had given the Cowboys a 48-47 advantage with 36 seconds remaining by hitting a baseline jumper that rattled around and in.
Kansas State scored just three points in the final 4:45 of the first half, then started the second half by going scoreless for nearly 7 1/2 minutes. But the Wildcats only trailed 35-29 because Oklahoma State was struggling as well.
An Atchison 3-pointer gave Kansas State a 43-42 lead with 6:45 left. His jumper with 4:20 left tied the game at 45, but it proved to be the Wildcats' final basket.
Two free throws by Kelvin Howell with 54.8 seconds left gave Kansas State its final lead, 47-46. Jonzen followed with his jump shot and free throws.
Larry Reid missed a long 3-point try with two seconds remaining and Victor Williams sank two free throws for the final margin.
Williams had 13 points, and Maurice Baker had 11 points and six rebounds. Howell, Atchison and Richie Terry scored 10 each for Kansas State.
The Cowboys, who average 16.7 turnovers per game, had 13 in the first half. Eight of them - including turnovers on five straight possessions - came during an eight-minute stretch when Kansas State outscored the Cowboys 15-3 to take a 21-16 lead.
The Wildcats led by as many as eight late the first half before Oklahoma State scored 10 straight points to retake the lead.
