STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's soccer team has announced the addition of two signees to its 2001 recruiting class. Jolene Schweitzer and Nikki Wojtowicz, both of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Cowgirls for the 2001 season.
Schweitzer, a 5-7 forward, and Wojtowicz, a 5-7 center midfielder, have competed on the Alberta Provincial Team since 1997 and joined the Under-17 Canadian National Team in 2000.
The duo also played on the Alberta All-Star squad that won the 1999 national championship. The prep standouts attend Winston Churchill High School in Lethbridge.
"These two grew up five houses down from each other and the fact that they have played together is very beneficial because they know each other so well. I can't stress enough how thrilled we are to have them," assistant coach Colin Carmichael said.
Schweitzer was named as Churchill's Female Athlete of the Year in 1997.
"Jolene is an incredibly gifted and dynamic athlete. She is very versatile and can play any position on the field. She will be a factor in the Big 12," Carmichael noted.
Wojtowicz also excels as a member of the Churchill volleyball and basketball teams.
"Nikki is a very intelligent player who reads the game well. She is a creative player and has the ability to distribute the ball all over the field," Carmichael added.
The tandem joins a list of five players, Leah Carr , Krista Dedmon, Lisa Fulton, Kendra Rainbolt and Courtney Robb, who cast their lot with the Cowgirls last week.
