Cowboy Track Fares Well at Tyson Invitational

Oklahoma State men's track finished well in Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend at the Tyson Invitational. Ten Cowboys finished in the top-ten slots of their respective race.
Junior Cam Katchuk placed eighth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:51.58. Also finishing well was Bjorn Bergstrom. He placed second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:25.03.
Also running the 3,000-meter were Ben Lake, Derek Tate, Trey Vernon, Matt Hart, Bruce Wright and Jon Cordes. Lake's time of 8:25.56 earned him a third-place position, while Tate and Vernon earned fourth and fifth places. Derek Tate finished in 8:26.84 and Trey Vernon finished in 8:28.80. Finishing ninth was Matt Hart with a time of 8:34.40. Rounding out the top-ten for the Cowboys was Junior Bruce Wright with a time of 8:36.54 and a tenth-place finish. Oklahoma State's Jon Cordes finished the race in 17th place with a time of 9:05.94.
In the 5,000-meter run, Oklahoma State's Junior Vasquez finished second with a time of 14:08.88. Johan Bergstrom and Scott Rantall finished 15th and 17th each with times of 15:10.05 and 15:35.72, respectively.
In the Golden Spikes portion of the meet, Cowboy freshman Daniel Vogoeli placed third in the mile run with a time of 4:09.51. Also in the Golden Spikes portion, Jerry Rainey finished tenth in the 3,000-meter run. He finished with a time of 8:19.26.
Poke sprinters, Ricklan Holmes and Chris Cole, ran in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash. Holmes placed fifth in his heat with a time of 7.29. Cole finished sixth in his heat with a time of 7.09. Holmes also competed in the 200-meter dash. His time of 24.02 was good enough for 36th place.
The Cowboys travel to Lincoln, Neb., next for the Big 12 Indoor Championships.
