Second-ranked Oklahoma State will host No. 3 Oklahoma in Bedlam wrestling action on Sunday Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
This will be the 143rd matchup between the two teams in a dual that is as competitive as its been in a long time. The Cowboys lead the series, 109-24-9.
"Expect the unexpected," said OSU head coach John Smith. "You never know the matches that we'll win and the ones they will win. With Bedlam, you just never know."
The Cowboys are coming off a tough loss at home to top-ranked Minnesota, in which the Gophers edged out Oklahoma State 21-12.
"We got a lot accomplished after the Minnesota dual," said Smith, "we worked on going the full seven minutes, along with some individuals coming away with more confidence."
With a win over the Sooners, it will move coach Smith into second place on the all-time wins list behind Tommy Chesbro's 227. Smith is now tied with Myron Roderick for second with 140 wins all-time.
The last time the Sooners won in the series was during the 1995-96 season when they beat the Cowboys 19-18. Oklahoma State has won 10 of the last 11 meetings with the first match of the 1999-00 season ending in a 16-16 tie.
Fans planning to attend the Oklahoma State-Oklahoma Bedlam wrestling match need to arrive early due to the anticipation of a large crowd.
With this being homecoming weekend, Oklahoma State will host the annual Parade of Champions, honoring Cowboy legends of the past.
Ticket windows on both the north and south ends of the OSU Athletics Center, as well as a ticket trailer in the north parking lot will open at 11 a.m., three hours prior to the match. The ticket office will also be selling tickets to the match during office hours through Friday, and will open at noon on Saturday.
The Parade of Champions will start at 1:15 p.m., and the match will begin at 2 p.m.
