Postgame Quotes
OSU Coach Eddie Sutton
"I thought probably overall this was the best game we have played. I realize the competition was not as good as Cincinnati and some of the teams we played in Las Vegas, but I thought we did a good job defensively by forcing turnovers. We controlled the defensive board for the most part.
"When we're running like we were tonight, we can score points in transition. Maurice (Baker), Victor (Williams) and Cheyne (Gadson) can really handle the basketball, and our big guys can run. We were able to get a lot of easy points that way.
"I thought for the most part we played pretty good defense. We didn't foul as much as we've been fouling. We helped each other a lot more. We forced them into 21 turnovers, and we got good production from people off the bench.
"I think we shot 50 percent (for the game). The first half we really got good shots, we just didn't shoot very well. The second half we hit those shots and that allowed us to raise that percentage. It was a good win for us, and we'll try to get ready for the Shockers on Saturday night."
On Cheyne Gadson
"Cheyne is getting in better condition and starting to better understand what we are trying to do. He really adds a lot to this ball club. He's a marvelous passer."
On Aaron Hill
"I thought Aaron played much better tonight. He rebounded, and he defended. He made some good passes. He's still not getting the ball to drop for him, but we see it in practice. We know he can shoot it."
OSU Forward Andre Williams
On Playing Strong For the Entire Game
"In the first half we were up by 18 and in the second half we finished it. We put together more of a complete game, but we still got a lot to work on. Our defense let up at times and our offense wasn't as crisp as we wanted it."
On Cheyne Gadson's Passing
"Cheyne is an unbelievable passer. He gets you things that you don't expect them to get there because we are in traffic, but he figures out a way to get them through there. He completes the backcourt with Vic (Williams), Mo (Baker) and Aaron (Hill) coming off of the bench. We've got one of the best backcourts all around."
OSU Guard Cheyne Gadson
On Finishing the Game Strong
"I think that this was real good for us. It was a big confidence builder all around. We just need to work on a couple of things and we will be right there."
On Gaining Confidence With His Health
"I was more comfortable tonight than any other game I have played. It all comes to practicing, I just need to get more comfortable on the floor and learn the system.
Forward Ivan McFarlin
On the game
"It was a good game. I was feeling relaxed all night and I got in a good grove and made some shots. Even through the pre-game meal Coach Cyprien told me that I needed to keep my man off the boards."
On foul shooting
"Coach Sean (Sutton) has been looking at my foul shooting early in the season and said there were some problems. We have been working on my rhythm and technique in shooting practice. Tonight I got in a pretty good rhythm and made the shots."
Guard Mo Baker
On coming out early
"Coach (Sutton) has emphasized all week long to come out early and play well and not let them get in the game."
On depth
"It can help us out a lot becuase we don't have to focus on one or two players because there are a lot of players that can come out on any given day and perform."
