Catrina Acosta and Siri Alfheim Receive National Recognition

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's cross country Coach Catrina Acosta and senior Siri Alfheim were named Regional Coach and Regional Athlete of the Year after their performance in the Midwest Regional last Saturday in Carbondale, Ill. The honor puts them on the ballot for National Coach of the Year and National Athlete of the Year.
The Cowgirls won their first regional title in school history and Siri Alfheim won the individual title. The team has qualified to compete in the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in school history.
Catrina Acosta is in her seventh season as head coach of the Cowgirls. This will be her second trip to nationals as the leader of the Cowgirls and the first since 1998.
Siri Alfheim beat conference rival Amy Mortimer of Kansas State to win her first meet of the season. She ran to a runner-up finish in the Big 12 Championships on Oct. 27.
The national award will be announced Saturday, Nov. 17 at a coaches banquet in Greenville, S.C., the location of the NCAA Championships.
