Cowboy Golf Finishes Fourth at Long Cove Invitational

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team moved up three spots during Sunday's final round at the Long Cove Golf Club to finish in fourth place at the Long Cove Invitational.
OSU posted a team score of 286 during the final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 874, 22-over-par, and 19 shots behind tournament champion Georgia Tech.
Sunday's final-round score helped the Cowboys rebound from their 296 during the second round that dropped them from a second-place tie to sole possession of seventh.
Sophomore Hunter Mahan and senior Anders Hultman led OSU individually, carding three-day totals of 214, one-over-par. Mahan recovered from a 75 on Saturday to fire a one-under 70 and Hultman followed back-to-back 73s with a 68 during his final round.
The duo finished eight strokes behind Southern California's David Oh, who won the tournament with three straight sub-70 rounds.
Sophomore Matt McQuillan also carded consecutive rounds of 73 to open the tournament before completing play with a three-over 74 to finish tied for the 22nd slot at seven-over-par.
P?r Nillson's 15-over total put him in a four-way deadlock for 49th place. The sophomore followed up Saturday's 75 with a five-over 76 to finish with a three-day total of 228.
After opening the tournament with scores of 80 and 81, freshman Dayton Rose played his final round three strokes over par. With his 74, Rose completed his first collegiate tournament in 65th place at 22-over-par.
The Cowboys will not return to action again until February 4-5 at the Arizona Collegiate in Tucson.
