STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's soccer team won its second consecutive Big 12 game on Sunday afternoon, defeating Texas Tech 2-1 before 421 fans at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls, 6-5-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the Big 12, fell behind in the game's 25th minute when Tech's Rachel Mavris slipped a shot past OSU goalkeeper Kat Doud.
Despite being outshot 13-4 in the first half, the Red Raiders (2-9-0 and 0-4-0) took the one-goal advantage into the intermission and made it stand until nine minutes had expired in the second stanza.
After narrowly missing a goal in the game's 52nd minute, forward Jolene Schweitzer took advantage of a feed from sophomore Joanne Edwards and blasted a shot past Tech keeper Lindsay Hahn two minutes later. The goal was the freshman's team-leading seventh of the season and knotted the score at one apiece.
The two teams went back and forth for the next 30 minutes, but neither squad was able to take advantage of several scoring opportunities.
In the 85th minute, Cowgirl freshman Courtney Robb won a battle in the midfield and lofted a ball into the Tech end. After tracking the pass down, sophomore Jere Boykin outran a Red Raider defender and punched in her first career goal to provide the final margin.
OSU will close out its four-game homestand on Wednesday when it hosts Northeastern State at 7 p.m.
