Comier, Mu?oz To Wrestle In NWCA All-Star Classic

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State's 184-pounder Daniel Cormier and 197-pounder Mark Mu?oz have agreed to compete in the 34th Annual National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic.
The competition is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. (EST) at Mayser Gym at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa.
This annual event features the best athletes in each weight class in college wrestling competing in challenge matches. It often affects the top individual ranking in the nation at each weight class.
Cormier, currently ranked third, is set to wrestle Iowa State's record-setting and top-ranked junior, Cael Sanderson, at 184 pounds. Sanderson has won 105 consecutive matches and is undefeated in his college career, including a 3-0 mark against Cormier.
At 197 pounds, Mu?oz will face top-ranked and defending national champion Brad Vering of Nebraska. The two are familiar foes, having met nine times. The fourth-ranked Mu?oz has, however, won six of those nine meetings and three straight.
Of the matchups in the tournament, five feature bouts between the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked wrestlers in the most recent Amateur Wrestling News individual rankings (141, 165, 174, 184, 197). It is one of the strongest fields in the tournament's history. The lineup is subject to change due to injury or other challenges.
